Renewed Heart Ministries* is a non-profit seminar-based ministry that is passionate about following Jesus and sharing Jesus’ message of God’s love in our post-modern world. RHM is dedicated to sharing the picture of God we discover through the lens of Jesus Christ in a way that is intellectually honest, culturally relevant, and relationally responsible. Jesus’ message is for churched and unchurched alike, those who are religious and those who have been hurt by religion, as well as for those who genuinely feel they don’t have one religious bone in their bodies. We feel that Jesus’ Kingdom is, first and foremost, about people. The truth of God’s character of love crosses denominational lines, the boundaries of all religions, and the barriers of every culture.
We believe that, as a whole, there exists in our world a deep and, many times, a dark misapprehension of God and what He is like. We believe that for the purpose of illuminating this darkness, and that this world might be won back to God and His radical self-sacrificial, other-centered love, the lies that have unintentionally been believed about God and that have kept so many bound must be broken. This could not and cannot be done by force. The exercise of force is contrary to the principles of God’s kingdom. He desires only the service of love, and love cannot be commanded. It cannot be won by force or authority. Only by love can love be awakened. To know God is to love Him. And thus, His character must be fully manifested. We believe that a revelation of this nature could be done only by one person. Only one who knows the height and depth of the love of God can make it known.

God, in the person of that Jewish carpenter of the first century named Jesus, came to this world as the morning dawn. His purpose was to illuminate the eyes of our hearts that had been darkened through belief in persistent lies. It is with the aim of finishing the work that Jesus began that we humbly introduce to you Renewed Heart Ministries. It is our hope that your life will be enriched, your heart renewed, and your devotion to Jesus Christ and His Kingdom deepened through the resources that RHM has to offer. We believe that, whenever the end may come, the last message of mercy to be given to the world will be a revelation and demonstration of God’s character of love.
*Renewed Heart Ministries does not charge a fee for any of its services, including seminars in local venues. We take very seriously Jesus’ commandment to “freely give” (Matthew 10.8). We exist purely on the basis of one-time and monthly love offerings and gifts from donors and supporters. Who is Herb Montgomery?
Herb Montgomery’s journey with Jesus began as a teenager when he discovered a series of Bible studies about the end of the world while rummaging around in his grandmother’s attic. Without the guidance of a pastor or a Bible teacher, Herb went through each lesson and began what he calls a very fear-based, “legalistic” religious experience. Two years later, Herb met Jesus for the very first time.
“This was the first time I actually felt that God unconditionally loved me with no strings attached,” Herb said. “I had been working so hard to get God to accept me and to save me from some future punishment, and yet God had been loving me and saving me all along already without me even knowing it. One feeling overwhelmed me at that moment. One conclusion was inescapably pressed upon my mind and heart – that whether I served God with my life or not, He would continue to love me and give to me, seeking to win my heart, simply because I was His child and He loved me (Matthew 5:44,45). At that moment I felt God’s love, in its unexplainably generous nature, wash over my heart. I fell to my knees in tears. I had been trying to be “religious” out of fear of what God would do to me if I did not serve Him. At this moment I was in awe of the love He would continue to feel toward me and express toward me even if I chose not to serve Him. He just loved me. Period. With no thought of what was in it for Himself. What else could I do in the face of that kind of love? I decided that day to love Him back and to dedicate my life to helping others encounter this same kind of love in this newly found God I had discovered.”
Today, Herb has little interest in most things religious, but he does consider himself to be a follower of Jesus. “It’s about a person, not a religion,” Herb said.
Herb has been a Bible instructor and seminar speaker for various schools and ministries for more than a decade. In 2007 Herb and his wife, Crystal, after much prayer and a decisive discernment of God’s leading, decided to launch Renewed Heart Ministries to enable others to answer their own questions about God and His love for them, as well as to experience the truth of His character and His love for them – as themselves, right where they currently are – revealed in the person of Jesus. Today Herb is an author and the director and speaker of Renewed Heart Ministries. Herb’s clear and honest teaching moves hearts in a way that also appeals to intellectual reason. Herb has an unusual gift for taking very complex concepts and making them simple enough for everyone to understand, as well as relevant enough for everyone to appreciate. For over a decade, Herb has watched thousands of people’s lives become radically changed as they encounter God and His love for them as they never have before. Herb conducts seminars around the globe at universities, conventions, local churches, retreats, high schools and academies, and church “campmeetings,” in venues religious and non-religious alike. Herb currently resides in West Virginia where he finds his greatest joy in spending time with his wife Crystal and their three children, Alexis, Emarya, and Christian.
