If you take a random reading of Jesus words in Mark’s Gospel (2:27) from various translations you are left with this: “Jesus said to them, ‘The Sabbath was made for, on account of, to benefit humankind.’” That last word, to “benefit” humankind, should make us sit up and take notice. The subject of the Biblical Sabbath has too often left God looking petty, restrictive, and at best a “kill-joy.” The subject of the Sabbath goes far beyond it’s historical change, or which 24 hour period is the Biblical Sabbath. This is a time God meant for the special “celebration” of something very specific and deeply meaningful. If you’d like to go beyond just “observing” the Sabbath, to experiencing the Spiritual fulfillment of what it means to Celebrate God’s holy day, then this month’s free presentation given last summer at the Iowa/Missouri camp meeting is just for you! A Forgotten Holiday—by Herb Montgomery, yours, this month, free!
